Monaco’s Charles Leclerc narrowly missed a podium finish in the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, August 4, coming on at number 4. The race was won by Lewis Hamilton, who snatched the win from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen with three laps to go. Leclerc’s Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel was third.
Hamilton had been called in for a tyre change with 21 laps remaining, but the controversial move proved to be a winning move as the British driver more than made up the 21 second time difference for a cliff-hanger finish. It was the seventh victory for Hamilton in Hungary and 81st won of his F1 career.
Hamilton is now 62 points ahead of Valtteri Bottas in the driver standings, with 250 points, while Leclerc is in firth position on 132, Verstappen on 181, and Vettel on 156.
