In the presence of Colonel Luc Fringant, 1st Aide de Camp, representing HSH the Sovereign Prince, Serge Telle, Minister of State and the highest personalities of the Principality, Monsignor Bernard Barsi, Archbishop of Monaco, celebrated the traditional Mass of Saint Barbara, Patroness of the Corps of Firemen of Monaco on Wednesday, December 4.

During his homily, the Archbishop thanked the firefighters “for their commitment to the service of those in distress, for their strength of soul and their great courage.”

Saint Barbara, a native of Turkey, was martyred in the third century: refusing to abjure her faith, she was decapitated by her own father.

In Monaco, a garden bears her name. Located in the Jardins Saint Martin, it was built around 1830 during the reign of Prince Honoré V.
