The commercial district of Fontvieille will look completely different in eight year’s time, when a redevelopment project led by Socri Reim reaches completion. The deal was signed on November 22.

The Socri Reim group has conceived an urban area combined with a park of two hectares and 2,000 trees. The shopping centre will double in size to 30,000 square metres, and alongside it will be a cinema, car parks and offices.

The Socri Reim group calls it “the most daring sustainable project in the world.” Interestingly, and usefully, the existing shopping facilities will remain open during the 300 million-euro transformation.

Nicolas Chambon, President of Socri Reim, told local French-language daily Monaco Matin: “We have put in this fabulous project all the expertise of our group, very committed to creating exceptional places able to reconcile sustainable development, exceptional quality of life and constant concern to protect our planet.”
