Students choose favourite films at festival in Monaco
More than 400 students from Monaco voted for their favourite films as members of the Children’s Prize jury on Thursday, December 5 at the festival “Le Temps Presse” (Time is Running Out). Supported by the Prince’s Government, it took place at the Théâtre des Variétés in Monaco to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations.
This is the ninth consecutive year in which the event supports ‘citizen cinema,’ presenting short films from around the world in connection with the UN environmental goals. This year, thirteen prizes will be awarded including the three Youth Awards (Children, High School Students and Students) supported by Monaco.
Six schools in the Principality elected their favuorite short film among the four in competition for the Children’s Prize. Their votes will be added to those of the other 3,000 children who are members of the jury who are enrolled in four partner countries of the Monegasque Cooperation*.
For their part, the first-year students of Sciences Po Paris, Middle East-Mediterranean campus in Menton, screened the five films shortlisted for the Student Award and selected their favourite.
The International Cooperation Department and the Campus are collaborating to raise students’ awareness of the issues of development and the fight against poverty in the world.
The awards ceremony of the festival “Le Temps Presse” will be held on January 25, 2020, in Paris, in the presence of many personalities.
