The yachting firm Edmiston, based in Monaco, has sold its recruitment division to the French-based recruitment group YPI. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Edmiston transferred its recruitment team of four to YPI Crew, as well as its book of all ongoing crew placements. These additions will take the YPI Crew team to a total of 16, according to staffingindustry.com.

Superyacht News said that the acquisition is part of YPI’s strategy to enhance its bespoke recruitment services to the yachting community. Last year, the recruitment agency opened a second office in Antibes, after reporting a 68 percent increase in employment requests since 2013.

Edmiston will now focus on its core business of yacht brokerage, charter and management, IBI News reports.

“I am delighted to welcome the Edmiston recruiters to YPI Crew,” Laurence Lewis, the president of YPI Crew, said. “The team is talented, experienced and will be a great asset to the company, allowing us to develop further.”

“Recruitment is not a commodity purchase and quality recruiters are increasingly essential in today’s sophisticated market,” Lewis said. “Clients pay for the soft skills recruiters bring to the table, which technology cannot do. With a team of 16 we are confident we can provide the best service to clients and candidates alike.”

YPI Crew was founded in 2002 and sources yacht crew worldwide, from deckhands to captains, engineers, chefs and stewards.
