Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Social Affairs and Health, has presented plans for new facilities for people with disabilities, working closely with AMAPEI, Association Monégasque pour l’Aide et la Protection des Enfants Inadaptés.
Founded in 1966 by Drs Christian and Mireille Calmes, AMAPEI provides assistance to people with mental disabilities and their families, thanks in particular to the Foyer de Vie Princesse Stéphanie in Cap d’Ail, which accommodates adults with disabilities in Monaco, whether nationals or residents.
The new facilities will cover a future need for 25 to 30 places. One will be in town, in order to promote social inclusion, with several studio-type apartments with common areas, a specialised educator and a social worker.
In addition, there will be a home for life in La Turbie, due to be ready in 2022, as well as a nursing home for people with disabilities who are more advanced in age, on a dedicated floor of the future Résidence du Cap Fleuri 1, in the town of Cap d´Ail, ready in 2024.
