Monaco resident and billionaire art collector David Nahmad has offered one of his hundreds of prized Picasso paintings to be raffled for charity.
Christie’s in Paris is handling the sale, which is due to take place on March 30 in Paris. Tickets are on sale at 100 euros apiece, while the still life itself is estimated to be worth a million euros.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to provide access to clean water in Cameroon, Madagascar, and Morocco through the charity Aider les Autres.
Picasso’s son, Claude, said: “I was really touched by the public’s enthusiasm for this initiative. A way for our family to continue Picasso’s own commitment to poorer populations and, in addition, offer more people the opportunity to discover his work.”
