On instructions from the Sovereign Prince Monaco will institute a night curfew from 22:00 on March 22 until further notice.

The curfew, which finishes each night at 05:00, prohibits travel to purchase supplies and short trips, close to home, related to physical activity by individuals and taking care of the needs of pets, such as walking a dog.

Shops will no longer be able to accept customers from 21:30 to allow them to comply with these provisions.

These restrictions will not apply to professionals providing care and assistance, security and health personnel or any other person able to justify an imperative necessity such as providing assistance to a vulnerable person.

Public Security will ensure the strict application of the provisions and will impose fines of 200 euros on those breaking them, the Government said.

The move follows a curfew announced by the neighbouring Alpes-Maritimes.
