The high jewelry brand ORLOV is playing its part in combating coronavirus in Monaco. ORLOV has donated 10.000 medical face masks to the Monaco Health Service to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The masks arrived in Monaco on Tuesday April 21, and will be handed over to the Monaco health service on Wednesday.

Christian Orlov (48), who owns the Monaco-based high jewelry brand ORLOV together with his wife Angela, ORLOV’s creative director, told Monaco Daily News that it was a practical way to make a contribution. “Many of us are thinking how we can all help to end this crisis,” he said. “I certainly had the time and the contacts to play our part,” he added.

Christian Orlov made great use of his connexion with Hong Kong, where he was based for 10 years before coming to Monaco more than 20 years ago, to source the 10.000 face masks and to organise their express shipment. ORLOV maintains a showroom in Hong Kong, which is one of several places that Christian Orlov visits on a very regular basis, to visit miners and gemstone dealers, until the coronavirus put a temporary stop to his frequent business travels.

The ORLOV brand is based in Monaco, with their headquarters and main design office, supported by a workshop employing 12 goldsmiths in Valenzia, Italy. ORLOV does not operate any retail outlets; it prides itself on being at the top end of the high jewelry market, selling only the finest natural precious gemstones and diamonds in their high jewelry creations.

“Our focus is on private showrooms, events and exhibitions, which we hold around the world on a regular basis, in the most exclusive hotel suites, chalets, villas or private yachts, with a guest list of 30 to 50 ultra-high-net-worth individuals” Christian Orlov said.

“We are living in an unexpected moment, never before have we felt such a desire to discover our strength and stability.” Today, more than ever, we have to take care of others,” he added. Christian Orlov already has plans – to extend the brand’s activities to reach out to help others as well after the coronavirus crisis.
