Low-cost airline easyJet is advertising flights to Nice from London and other UK airports from May 22. However, the airline has said that “there is no certainty when flights may resume.”

Approached for comment by Monaco Daily News, a spokeswoman said: “For your background understanding, our fleet currently remains grounded and there is no certainty on when flights may resume as this will depend on travel restrictions and customer demand. We have a rolling programme of cancellations ongoing and we are working through these. Once we have identified a flight for cancellation we will prevent further passengers booking on to it and will inform passengers of the cancellation and their options.

“We are working closely with local authorities and the relevant regulators to monitor the situation across Europe so that we remain informed of when restrictions could change and when flying can resume. We anticipate this will be a minimal schedule at first, which will vary by country.

“In the meantime, we are maintaining our full fleet of aircraft in a flight ready condition and putting accelerated procedures in place to ensure flights can resume quickly and safely.”

If a flight is cancelled, customers can transfer to an alternative flight free of charge or receive a voucher for the value of their booking online or claim a refund through our contact centre. Customers may also submit a claim in writing via a new dedicated refund webform, online, the airline said.

“For customers whose flights are not cancelled but would like to move to a later date they can amend their flight online with no change fee and we have brought forward our schedule on-sale so customers have more choice to move their flights, up to 18 April 2021.”

As previously reported by Monaco Daily News, British Airways has been flying from Nice to Heathrow on most days throughout the coronavirus crisis and continues to do so. On most days, the Heathrow flight is one of only three currently using Nice Airport.

Flights from Nice to North America and China are not expected to resume before September, at the earliest.
