The first day after the end of lockdown in France started calmly in the south of the country, although commuter trains in the Paris region were extremely busy.
The local train service from Nice to Monaco Monte-Carlo is operating at half its normal numbers, and with a concentration of trains in the morning and evening commute. Both the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var are part of France’s green zone, where infection rates are lower and hospital capacity is higher than in Paris and the Grand Est.
No new deaths were recorded in the Alpes-Maritimes over the weekend. A total of 222 people have died from coronavirus in the Department since the start of the crisis and 22 are still in intensive care.
In the whole of France, Sunday was marked by the lowest number of deaths in two months, with 70 victims, but 263 new deaths were announced on Monday, May 11.
