Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappé has been awarded the Ligue 1 Golden Boot Award after the season was ended with 10 remaining fixtures. The young sensation has, however, offered to ‘share’ his award with fellow striker Ben Yedder.

Wissam Ben Yedder put in a critically strong performance for AS Monaco with 18 goals in the 2019/20 campaign which saw Monaco finish in ninth place, a considerable improvement from the previous year in which the boys in red and white narrowly avoided relegation, finishing in 17th place.

Former Monaco striker Mbappé also managed to net 18 goals. However, every single one was scored in open play as opposed to the three goals that Ben Yedder scored from a penalty.

Mbappe displayed his sportsmanship on Twitter:

The tweet reads: “Thank you all for your messages. I do think that Wissam also deserves a trophy, like it was done in the Premier League last season to reward his year.” To which Ben Yedder responded; “Thank you bro congratulations to you (we can do alternate if you want)”

The 21 year old feels that the award should be shared as with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the English Premier League – a class gesture from a young athlete at the top of his game.

Paris Saint-Germain were declared champions of Ligue 1 by the Professional Football League on April 30 after a unanimous decision to cancel Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 due to the coronavirus crisis.
