The details of nine million easyJet customers have been stolen in a sophisticated attack, the airline said on Tuesday, May 19. The credit card details of only 2,208 people were compromised, the airline said.

The airline warned customers not to respond to emails purporting to come from the airline. It said it would be in contact with the customers whose financial details were stolen, and if customers don’t receive a response form the airline they should consider they were not among the victims.

The airline said: “We are advising customers to continue to be alert as they would normally be, especially should they receive any unsolicited communications. We also advise customers to be cautious of any communications purporting to come from easyJet or easyJet Holidays.”
