EasyJet will resume a small number of mainly domestic flights from 22 European airports from June 15, but Nice is not among the destinations to be served from the UK until July, according to the company’s timetable.
EasyJet will initially serve a number of UK airports including Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Belfast. EasyJet is the dominant operator at Nice Airport and will add domestic flights within France. In the temporary absence of easyJet, Air France is currently operating two or three flights every day from Nice to Paris.
EasyJet said it will be “introducing new measures to help ensure safety and wellbeing, including enhanced aircraft cleaning and disinfection and requirement for passengers and crew to wear masks”. However, the airline will not be keeping the middle seats empty, although in practice low passenger numbers will allow more space.
The budget carrier will not serve food and drink on board, at least in the early weeks of resuming flights.
Meanwhile the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued 28 pages of recommendations that include the setting aside of one toilet for crew and no queuing for the remaining toilets.
