Grigor Dimitrov, the Bulgarian tennis player, has been identified as Monaco’s 100th coronavirus case. The world number-19 used an Instagram post to announce the news:

“Hi Everyone-I want to reach out and let my fans and friends know that I tested positive back in Monaco for Covid-19. I want to make sure anyone who has been in contact with me during these past days gets tested and takes the necessary precautions. I am so sorry for any harm I might have caused. I am back home now and recovering. Thanks for your support and please stay safe and healthy.”

Dimitrov (29) had just returned from a tournament in Zadar, Croatia,in which he lost in straight sets to lower-ranked Croatian player Borna Coric. On Monday, a second tennis player – Coric – and a coach tested positive for the virus. Unsurprisingly, questions are now being asked about the wisdom of holding the Adria Tournament in the current circumstances.
