Monacair, the current franchise holder for the Monaco to Nice Airport helicopter shuttle service, is to lay off 32 of its workers out of a total of 76, it was revealed on Thursday. The company has issued a ‘social plan’ for the affected employees and will restructure its business. The lay-offs will affect pilots as well as ground staff.

The helicopter link to Nice Airport has been badly hit by the coronavirus crisis, as passenger numbers plummeted.

Monacair, which is partly owned by the two sons of HRH Princess Caroline, replaced Heli Air on the route in 2014. Heli Air had operated the service since 1976.
