Very late on Thursday evening, the Monaco Government announced three more cases of coronavirus. All three involve residents of the Principality and all the infections were contracted outside the Principality.

This brings the total of new cases to eight this week, and the total since the start of the outbreak to 128. A total of 108 people have recovered fully. As of Thursday night, three people are in hospital, and nine individuals are under medical supervision at home.

Elsewhere, the number of new deaths in France was nine on Thursday, in Italy six, in Germany three, in Spain one and in the UK 49.

Widely reported increases in infection rates in several European countries in many cases reflect positive tests for antibodies, Spain being a good example where more than 3,000 ‘new cases’ were reported on Thursday. In addition, more infections are occurring among young people, who have a lower mortality rate.
