France will introduce quarantine for travellers from the UK within the next few days, according to Clément Beaune, the junior European affairs minister.

Speaking to France 2 television on Monday, August 24, he said: “We will have a measure called reciprocity so that our British friends do not close the border in one single way.”

The UK introduced quarantine for travellers from France on August 15, citing high coronavirus infection rates, although these figures were impacted by a much higher level of testing in France.

The French move is expected following a formal decision by Prime Minister Jean Castex and the defence council, Beaune said.
