British Premier League side Manchester United have had their €25million offer for Benoit Badiashile rejected by AS Monaco. The Ligue 1 team is in no hurry to sell their emerging defensive superstar as top-flight clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Leverkusen also show interest.

Badiashile has made his name as one of Europe’s most exciting prospects following some very assured performances in the heart of the Principality’s defensive line, at just 19 years old. United have reportedly identified the French youngster as a perfect long-term asset for the club. However, a source close to the club said that Monaco may only change their mind in the event of a “Martial-like, unrefusable bid for him.”

Head-coach Niko Kovac has also been vocal on the matter having told his board that he wants to keep the Frenchman and that all bids for him should be rejected. Kovac will most certainly be keen to challenge Paris-Saint Germain this season so any reluctance to hold on to a talented asset shouldn’t come as a surprise. Instead, Kovac aims to build the squad as he sets his sights on Wilfried Zaha, a right-winger from Crystal Palace who could just give Monaco that competitive edge with his dangerous style of play.

In the meantime, Monaco have reached a transfer agreement with Atlético de Madrid for 23 year old Caio Henrique. The young Brazilian joins the red and whites on a five-year contract. Able to play in various positions, the Santos FC academy product is a midfielder capable of playing up and down the left flank for the Red and Whites. Vice-President Oleg Petrov said “(Henrique’s) arrival is part of our desire to strengthen the competitiveness of the first team.”
