On Wednesday September 9, in the presence of HSH Prince Albert, the Prince’s Government detailed the digital side of its recovery plan which is being gradually implemented by Extended Monaco. “Digital technology has become a strategic issue for all countries” said the Sovereign before announcing that Monaco has become the first European country to equip itself with its own cloud, ‘Monaco Cloud’.

The Prince’s Government then announced the digital aspect of its recovery plan which features ‘Monaco Cloud’. The objective of the digital plan being to place digital technology at the heart of new initiatives in the Principality with a focus on supporting businesses and attracting new investors. As part of the ‘Blue Fund’, HSH Prince Albert said that he is “keen to expand its use within the Principality by allocating €20M and helping [his] country write a new page and become a model country in terms of digital technology.”

This plan will be implemented by the Government body; Extended Monaco. The digitally orientated organisation had a strong first year of existence. Now, with the continued threat of coronavirus looming over us, a digital safety net is vital for both business and individuals alike. Luckily then, Monaco’s digital budget is proportionally one of the highest in Monaco at nearly €400 per inhabitant. This will allow businesses to be more competitive and indeed connected while citizens will be more capable and equal in the face of digital technology.
